MenuTrax Privacy Policy

 

The short version: MenuTrax collects nothing about you. It has no accounts, no analytics, no ads, no tracking, and no servers of ours to send anything to. Your music, your settings, and your listening habits stay on your Mac.

What MenuTrax collects about you

 

Nothing. The app has no sign-in, gathers no personal information, and includes no analytics or advertising of any kind.

What stays on your Mac

 

MenuTrax keeps a few small things locally so it can do its job: your settings (like player position and lyrics preferences), and a small memory of which songs it has already looked up lyrics for, so it doesn’t ask twice. These never leave your computer.

How MenuTrax talks to the Music app

 

MenuTrax controls Apple’s Music app on your Mac using Apple’s standard automation permission, which macOS asks you to approve the first time. This all happens on your computer — nothing about your library or listening is sent anywhere.

Online lyrics (optional, off by default)

 

If you turn on “Find lyrics online,” MenuTrax asks LRCLIB (lrclib.net), a free community lyrics service, for the words to the song you’re playing. The only information sent is the song's title, artist, album, and length, along with the app's name and version so LRCLIB knows the request comes from MenuTrax. MenuTrax sends nothing about you — no name, no account, no identifiers — and stores nothing about you anywhere.

 

As with any online service or website, LRCLIB’s servers can see the internet address the request comes from; that’s how the internet delivers replies, and it’s the same for every website you visit. If you prefer that nothing leave your Mac at all, simply leave this switch off — Menutrax works fully without it.

Third parties

 

MenuTrax shares no information about you with anyone — it collects none to share. The optional lyrics lookup above is the app’s only online feature, and it works as described there. With the switch off, MenuTrax makes no internet connections at all.

Children

 

MenuTrax collects no information from anyone, including children.

Changes to this policy

 

If MenuTrax’s privacy practices ever change, we’ll update this page and note the date below. We will never change the fundamentals quietly: no accounts, no tracking, no selling of anything, ever.
